The Long Form - A guaranteed-to-have-a-good-time wedding?

The season we've all been waiting for is here. No, not summer - wedding season! Everyone looks forward to love, tears, and drunk uncles - but maybe there's a better way?

While introducing weed to weddings is a fairly fresh - and maybe scary? - concept for newly out-of-the-cannabis-closet consumers, there are actually quite a few success stories online. Bridal Musings, an international resource and publication for hopeless romantics, featured this gorgeous gallery of inspiration; The Atlantic talks about how grandma may be cooler about cannabis than you think; and Wedding chicks sourced a gorgeous hemp and silk wedding dress, amongst other their ideas for subtly incorporating weed into your nuptials.

Now don’t get us wrong - we know that we can’t all be stunning multicultural stylish lesbian couples and work for Harbourside cannabis like the examples above, but don’t let the fabulous photos make you think that these ideas are beyond your budget.

A cannabis ceremony doesn’t have to be ‘bougie’. Most people who throw a weed-inspired wedding find that they spend much less than if they had an open bar. Have your cousin/friend/aunt/granddad grow some plants for the party and you could supply your own cannabis (and even floral arrangements!) at a very low cost.

The most important thing, if you ask us, is to carefully consider how your particular group of guests might prefer to engage. If you’re planning to have cannabis at your wedding, let’s face it, you’re kind of a hipster. Sorry! - by that, we mean, you’re an early adopter, you’re on the leading edge, you’re helping to shape the culture.  You'll want to think about curating your selection and having someone on hand to help guide your guest's consumption choices, so that whether you're a veteran or new to cannabis, it will be a wedding to remember.

"Price-conscious consumers find backyard planting way cheaper" - CBC

While legal seeds are still a little hard to come by, especially if you had a particular variety in mind, people are still excited to start a little victory garden this summer. This classically Canadian small-town article features a student botanist from Guelph, labouring in his backyard garden. Somewhat hilariously, after they list his full name, town, and show a few angles of his face and house, Matt is quoted as saying he is a bit concerned that people won't steal his stash: "I advise people to plant it with visibility from neighbours in mind, behind fences or bushes — although you can't do much about the scent of it when it's in full flower unfortunately."

The Traditional Irish Blessing, adapted:

May the raindrops fall lightly on your leaves
May the soft winds strengthen your stalk
May the sunshine lengthen your stems
May the burdens of the day rest lightly upon you
And may Mary enfold you in the mantle of Her love.
May the road rise to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face
and the rain fall soft upon your fields
And until we meet again my friend
May Mary hold you in the palm of her hand
May Mary be with you and bless you
May you see your clone's clones
May you be poor in mites and rich in trichomes
May you know nothing but happy highs
from this day forward
May green be the grass you roll up
May hazy be the skies above you,
And from this day forward.
May the joys of today
Be those of tomorrow.
